Bennett to Represent South Carolina on National Panels

Economic background leads to expanded role

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Harvey S. Peeler, Jr., President of the South Carolina Senate, this week named Senator Sean Bennett, R-Dorchester, to two national committees focused on fiscal and budgetary policy.

Bennett was named to both the Fiscal Affairs and Governmental Operations Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference of the Council of State Governments as well as the National Conference of State Legislatures' Budgets and Revenue Committee.

“South Carolina is very blessed to have a growing, modern economy. With that, it is important to ensure fiscal policy decisions take advantage of this new economy for the benefit of all citizens."  Senator Bennett says. “I look forward to sharing best practice ideas with colleagues from across the country to learn what works, and does not work. I also look to further influence pro growth and free market fiscal policies both at home and elsewhere.”

Elected in 2013, Senator Sean Bennett represents portions of Dorchester, Berkeley and Charleston counties. He serves as the chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee. He also serves on the Finance; Banking and Insurance; Transportation; and Labor, Commerce and Industry committees.
