Dear Friend,

As we get back to work Columbia for the 2026 legislative session, I want to begin by thanking you for the trust you have placed in me. It remains a privilege to represent Dorchester County in the South Carolina Senate.

Self-government depends on participation. For that reason, I am asking you to take a few minutes to complete the survey below. Your responses will help me better understand your views on legislation already filed, proposals that may come before the Senate, and administrative matters that will shape this year’s session.

Your input matters. It helps inform how I ask questions, how I weigh competing arguments, and ultimately how I vote.

Public service is not about chasing headlines. It is about the steady and often quiet work of preserving liberty under law. That means supporting policies that respect constitutional limits, protect families, encourage economic opportunity, and ensure that government remains accountable to the people it serves.

Over the past year, much of our work has centered on helping citizens navigate state agencies, resolve disputes, and understand their rights within the system. We have assisted families working through Medicaid and Medicare concerns, disability benefits, special education matters, and child welfare cases. We have supported small business owners dealing with regulatory questions, helped clear licensing and DMV issues, and worked with agencies on road maintenance and safety concerns across our community.

This kind of work rarely draws attention. But it reflects a simple principle: government exists to serve the people, not to manage their lives.

I anticipate that several of the topics addressed in the survey will arise early in the session. Your timely response will help ensure that your perspective is considered as legislation is debated and voted upon.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It is an honor to represent this community. If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my office at 803.212.6410.

There is no ease in liberty, but there is dignity in the work of preserving it.

Sincerely,

Sean M. Bennett

South Carolina Senate
